Ireland Day 3: Nomadic

Last Friday when we left off Andy and I had boarded the final remaining White Star Line ship in existence. The Nomadic. This collection will be the final collection of images from the area of the Titanic Museum, but very far from the end of the Day 3 images. Very far!

They were refinishing the decking. They were using an African wood. I don’t remember the exact type, so I will call it Iroko.

Maybe it was Mukulungu or Ekki?

Definitely not the smoke stack that killed Fabrizio.

As a yacht owner*, Andy knows a thing or two about boats.

“It’s not a boat. It’s a ship!”

“Second star to the right, and straight on till morning.”

That lucky hand wasn’t so lucky for poor Fabrizio!

Angie and I might collaborate on a book of manhole cover pictures. Joe Duff will buy it. The rest will collect dust.

Cherbourg was Titanic’s 1st stop. But not its last. It’s 3rd last. If you count the ocean floor.

One of the saddest scenes from GAME OF THRONES!

The key to the slipway where Titanic was built. Was hard to follow.

If Bran Stark was a real person and not the extremely disappointing end to a fictional story… this would be stone cold.

The Iron Throne… in stained glass!

Love locks!

I photograph these every chance I get because I know people that hate them. Sad and miserable people.

All love locks have a story. But this one… It reminds me of Ernest Hemingway’s 6 Word Story.**

That is the last collection of pictures I took around the Titanic Museum. The next collection will still be in Belfast, but will focus on the time we spent along the peace walls.

*The kind of yacht that fits in a Boone County storage shed. Not the type of yacht that they have a festival for in say Cannes, France.

**If you aren’t familiar with the Ernest Hemingway “six word story”, legend has it he bet fellow writers $10 that he could write a complete narrative in just six words. His story: “For sale: baby shoes, never worn.” But this is probably just a legend. As Maxwell Scott says in one of the greatest films of all time (THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE), “This is the West sir. When the legend becomes fact, print the legend.”
