“The Wrong Guy Got Elected”

For those that have been asking, it is my sad duty to report that Scott did not get elected last Tuesday. He lost the vote 161-126-2. Yes, there were two write-in votes. For Scooby Doo, I’m guessing. Based on how seriously some people take their vote.

But 161 votes for an incumbent is a clear indication that the incumbent doesn’t have a ton of support in his ward.

The momentary setback for Boone’s progress prompted me to get the following text message on Wednesday morning:

The wrong guy got elected.

I don’t want to go into a whole postmortem thing about the election right now. It is tough to defeat an incumbent. Particularly in an off year election. Especially when they have the backing of a political party and you don’t. Scott got a late start on his campaign. Perhaps Scott was even a slight victim of the blue wave that happened last Tuesday. It could even be argued that he was hurt by 1 issue voters. That 1 issue. Chickens in backyards.

Whatever the reason that Boone’s progress was temporarily halted last Tuesday, it is only temporary. Scott will continue his school board duties and he will be running for political office again. Soon. What office? Still to be determined.

I thought I would share some of the photos I took during this process:

Thanks to everybody that supported Scott and voted for Scott.

Don’t worry the revolution isn’t dead. The Scottie D. Revolution is just getting started!

Can I Get Confirmation?

Last Sunday was Confirmation Sunday at the church. I wasn’t directly involved in the confirmation process, but my morning was filled with church activities.

As a member of the Methodist Men, I was there to help prepare the Confirmation Breakfast for the confirmands, their families, and their mentors. During a break in the action I ran up and fixed the network problems of our financial computer. During the church service I ran the PowerPoint portion of the worship. After the service, once again as a member of the Methodist Men, I helped serve treats and beverages as part of Fellowship.

However, what matters to this post is the PowerPoint part of my day. Since I was running PowerPoint, I was up in the balcony. I don’t normally take photographs during worship service, because the people around me consider it to be a distraction.

However, since I was in the balcony and since Alisa is in Haiti doing God’s work (similar to the time I went to fake Haiti, but with less time laying on the beach and bartering over hat prices I’m sure) I decided to snap a few photos, so she could see them on her return.

I’d just like to say that the two confirmands that read their Personal Faith Statements to the congregation were VERY impressive! If I had a transcript of their words, I would’ve published both of them.

WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE – WEEK 21 – LANDMARK

Oooh.

This week came dangerously close to the first strike against this project, but then Kim came in with a photo Monday morning. Maybe this was a theme that didn’t ring many bells or maybe it was all the “bad” weather last week. Regardless. Solid work Kim!

The submissions for LANDMARK:

WEEK 21 - LANDMARK - KIM BARKER
Kim Barker

WEEK 21 - LAND MARK - CHRISTOPHER D. BENNETT
Christopher D. Bennett

No reason to dwell on the past though. Time to look at the future.

This week’s theme:

WEEK 22 - JUNK
JUNK!

I might regret saying this, but as always, define JUNK however you see fit.

HOUSEKEEPING

At this time, nothing new to report from any Photography 139 Divisions.

And I’m Out to Cut the Junkie

I actually made two trips out to McHose Park to attempt to create my WATER image for the WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE. Loyal followers of my Instagram account know what happened during my first effort. Therefore, no reason to bring that up again.

I took more than 1 photo while I was out there, so I thought I would share some of the other contenders for WATER, that fell short one way or another.

I’m sure I won’t have as many FOOD losers. Or maybe I’ll have no food losers. I guess I’ll see how that plays out.

Corning, New York

Back in August I went on my 2nd ever work trip for the day job. I went to Corning, New York and Mansfield, Pennsylvania with Micky. We had enough down time to crack out the camera a little bit.

Very few pictures are from Corning, Iowa. No pictures are from Mansfield, Pennsylvania.

Here a few images from that trip:

Watkins Glen - Personal Photo Project #199

It certainly beat my first ever work “trip”: going to the Carroll, Iowa McDonald’s to cover their store while their staff had a Christmas Party cause let’s face it, Carroll, Iowa kind of sucks. If the town didn’t have an A&W, it might not even have a right to exist.
