A BLACK & WHITE photo can be a BLACK & WHITE photo of literally any subject you want. It also could be a color photo of something that is BLACK & WHITE. This is my favorite theme, so I hope there are lots of submissions!

Time to hit the backlog again. Here are pictures from the my trip to the Crazy Horse Memorial with my Mom:
I loved the Crazy Horse Memorial. My one complaint is that I wish there was more about Crazy Horse there and a little less about the family carving the monument.
The weather this weekend might have been a little tough on AGRICULTURE for this week’s WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE. I know it damaged my plans. May have damaged others.

BLACK & WHTIE! What a great theme! Also my favorite theme. Also, one of the easiest theme. Take a BLACK & WHITE picture of literally anything and it qualifies! Or you can take a color picture of something that is BLACK & WHITE and that qualifies too!

A MESSAGE FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHY 139 RULES DIVISION
1. The picture has to be taken the week of the theme. This isn’t a curate your pictures challenge. This is a get your butt off the couch (my personal experience) and put your camera in your hands challenge. Don’t send me a picture of you next to the Eiffel Tower, when I know you were in Iowa all week. I will point out that I have let that slide some in the past. I will not in the future. Since it is literally about the only rule.
2. Your submission needs to be emailed to bennett@photography139.com by 11 AM on the Monday of the challenge due date. It should be pointed out that this blog auto-publishes at 12:01 on Mondays. So it wouldn’t hurt to get your picture in earlier.
That is it, them’s the rules.

An AGRICULTURE photo is a photo that deals with “the science or practice of farming, including cultivation of the soil for the growing of crops and the rearing of animals to provide food, wool, and other products”.

As I was getting out the hammer to prepare to put the last couple of nails into the WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE coffin, there has been a resurgence of submissions this week, for JOY. I’ll just point out that there are several dog submissions for JOY and zero cat submissions for JOY. I’m not saying that cats suck, but you know, cats suck.

AGRICULTURE! What a great theme! But what does it mean.
Well totalitarian agriculture is what keeps you showing up for work every day, even though your job seems to be slowly killing your soul, one TPS report at a time. You see a long, long, long time ago, the 1% figured out that if they locked up all of the food, they could control the rest of the population by throwing them scraps…
Oh… sorry wrong blog…
Here is a fair to excellent description of AGRICULTURE:
the science or practice of farming, including cultivation of the soil for the growing of crops and the rearing of animals to provide food, wool, and other products.
I know this will be an easy theme for somebody like me that is practically self-sustaining with the wide array of fruits and vegetables and whatever rhubarb is considered that I grow, but I know not everybody has my neon green thumb. But think about it. Almost everything you eat is a result of AGRICULTURE.Except tofu. I think tofu comes from Hades. Everything you wear. AGRICULTURE.
I will add that there is only one correct color for tractors and its hexadecimal number is #387B2B. It can be accented nicely with #FBE017.

a feeling of great pleasure and happiness.
A JOY picture will be a picture of somebody expressing JOY or perhaps even, something/body that gives great JOY.

On Friday night I went to The Open Flame in horrible Gilbert, Iowa for Andy’s birthday party extravaganza. While there, Andy convinced Jaxon Schoff to become the latest person to show class, taste, and sophistication by signing up for a Photography 139 email subscription. Jaxon might be the youngest subscriber currently. He is in the 8th Grade. But to think, if he is showing this much taste, class, and sophistication now… well he has av very bright future. America has a very bright future. If you see him out walking the mean county roads of rural Boone County feel free to give him a knowing glance and show him the super secret Photography 139 Handshake.
