Hitting up the 2019 backlog with a collection of pictures I took on the same day as when I took Taylan’s Senior pictures.
Some are of flowers. Some are of Naima. Some are of Logan and Mom leaving one of the worst restaurants we’ve ever eaten at.
Still a long ways to go with this backlog, but we’ll get there. You just have to believe!
The pictures from the folder 2009-09-27 come from a Saturday when I went down to Des Moines to watch Jen compete in the Des Moines Regatta and watched Iowa State beat Army in football.
All the pageantry that comes with Army coming to your stadium is pretty amazing. Iowa State was also schedule to play both Navy and Air Force, but both those games got cancelled after the Big 12 went to a 9 game conference schedule and some nonconference games had to be cancelled. I still wish those game would get rescheduled, but I know it will never happen.
I’m not sure if this was the last Des Moines Regatta that Jen ever competed in, but I’m pretty sure that it was.
By adding these pictures to the Photography 139 Gallery, I was able to restore the following historic “An Artist’s Notebook” entries to their original glory:

The pictures from the folder 2009-09-12 are from the Iowa State-Iowa football game in 2009. I don’t recall who won the game, but I just hope everybody had fun!

Even though it is barely March, it is about time that I start turning my thoughts to the Iowa State Fair Photography Salon. I hope to be more current with my images by the time I actually have to make a decision, but I am pretty sure I know of at least one picture I’m going to enter. Even though, I currently can’t remember that picture. I just remember taking a picture and thinking, I’m going to enter that in the Iowa State Fair. Could be a false memory planted by my therapist. Since, after all, having a therapist is a false memory placed by parts unknown.
Today’s collection is of pictures I took on the last day of the Iowa State Fair with the Sony RXOII. Nader went with me and Logan met me down there.
This is just the beginning of the pictures from last year’s Iowa State Fair.

A big thank you to all the people that showed up and supported the Youth Group on Ash Wednesday! This year, it was a huge success! We raised more than double the money that we raised on last year’s Spaghetti Fundraiser!

The pictures in the folders 2009-09-02 and 2009-09-04 are from two separate but nearly equally great events.
A couple of the pictures are from Alligator Shirt Day. A holiday that I invented back in 2009, but then forgot to honor on a yearly basis. You can bet dollars to donuts that on the 2021 Photography 139 Calendar, you will find Alligator Shirt Day in it. Just one of the changes you will see in the 2021 calendar as I will make it an even more personal project, since I don’t sell them any longer.
The other event is the Iowa State football game against North Dakota State. Back then, I didn’t realize that North Dakota State had one of the most annoying fanbases in the world. A pretty big accomplishment for a nothing university in a town that nobody would’ve heard of if the Cohen brothers didn’t name a movie after the town and then set the movie in Minnesota.

Next Saturday’s walk down memory lane will involve a couple of road trips I went on.
A few weeks ago I decided to buy a new camera. This isn’t the post about the new camera, because that one is going to get pretty deep into the weed, but this is a post that is happening because of that decision.
The short version is that because of the new camera purchase I started to look around at adapters. Something that happened while I was looking at adapters I came across some adapters that would hook my Dad’s Minolta manual focus lenses to my current camera and to my new camera. Those adapters arrived on Friday and I took dug out the lenses and took a few pictures:

I’ll go a little more in depth on each lens in the future, but right now I just want to celebrate the fact that I can use them!
The pictures from the folder named 2009-08-29 are mostly from a photo session I did with Stephanie. If I recall correctly, these pictures were supposed to be a headshot for her music career. I decided to convert those to black and white and save them for posterity.
The other pictures in this folder are from my garden.
This is the first time that I’ve published any of these images.

Hitting up the old 2019 backlog. The pictures I share today are from the graduation church service for our church’s seniors. The other pictures are pictures I took on the same day.
I have seen some of those kids, ahem, young adults since they moved on to their next adventures. I’ve seen Casey and Anna and Mackenzie and Megan and Halle. They are all doing great things!
For starters, happy birthday Anders! We celebrated Anders’ birthday last night at January birthday night with yellow cake, a DOLEMITE double feature, and a root beer tasting.
After all, DOLEMITE is my name and (expletive deleted) up mother (expletive deleted) is my game!

One of my secret (I guess) goals of 2020 is to be more proactive about putting information for Movie Night up on the website. Because if you are reading these words, you are invited to Movie Night.
But be warned, you may never be the same after you attend Movie Night. Exposure to great art tends to change a person. In fact, I think Movie Night broke Willy.

Enough about Anders’ birthday. Let’s talk about my birthday. Last year Jesse and I took a road trip around my birthday. One of the stops we made was at The Little Brown Church. There were a bunch of LARPers there. Maybe they were time travelers. Either way, they were dressed up like it was the Civil War.

Our church hosted a filmmaker who made a documentary about it once. It was interesting, but it didn’t feature one time traveler.
