By adding these images to the Photography 139 Photo Gallery, I was able to restore the following blog entries to their original glory:

NEW TOY
T NIGHT
FOGGY

Sometimes when I come across old photos I think twice before posting them. So much time has passed this the events of this nights. Marriages have come and gone. Friendships have faded. Some friendships have ended. That can make looking at these old photos awkward to look at. But what really makes these photos awkward is there is photographic evidence of me playing a video game as an adult.

I admit, not much of an adult, but still too long in the tooth to claim adolescence. I believe this may have been the last time I played a video game. Might be the last time I ever play a video game. Time will be the final judge on that, as always.

The photos that you might consider “blurry” were taken with a Lens Baby. It is a push-pull-bend lens. Lots of fun, even though I freely confess, most people don’t appreciate the images they create.

Next Saturdays walk down memory lane will involve Good Friday and a tradition that I am happy that my church has retired.

The images in today’s post came from the folder 02-10-08/lwl. They are from a photo shoot for Shannon’s Little White Lye Soap company. These are how I would edit them today, if I still had the contract:

LITTLE WHITE LYE SOAP

Little White Lye Soap is a product I still endorse. I used to give it out as Christmas presents back when I we used to give Christmas presents out.

Next Saturday’s walk down memory lane involves a camera that I tested for Nader for his trip to London.

There are some examples of really bad Photoshop work in this collection.

If you have forgotten, Little White Lye Soap is a company ran by Shannon. It is high quality soap that I highly endorse. I’d recommend you go out and buy about 20-30 bars!

Next Saturday’s walk down memory lane will involve some artwork by Becca and Sara Junckner. Or it will involve more Little White Lye Soap. You never know.

Little White Lye Soap is a subsidiary of Shannon’s business empire Franklin Broom Works. These pictures were taken for some of the earliest iterations of Shannon’s website. Almost 10 years later, a few of the photos from that photo shoot are still on the website. You can purchase Little White Lye Soap here:

Little White Lye Soap is a product I still endorse and not just because Shannon loves the movie A CLOCKWORK ORANGE. It is also a great product ran by a great person.

Next Saturday’s walk down memory lane will involve more Little White Lye Soap.

Final Day to Order – 2018 Photography 139 Calendar

A friendly reminder that today is the last day to order a 2018 Photography 139 Calendar!

The price of the calendar is still $10. A veritable bargain in this climate of rising prices!

I’m sure you are ready to plunk down $10 or $20 or $30 based on the high quality product that has existed in the past. I would gladly take your money, sight unseen, but I would at least like to reveal what pictures are in the 2018 Calendar.

Have a look:

Each picture was aligned with the month it was taken in. Okay maybe a hair of finagling was done at that front… I’ll never tell… Even if the .exif data will.

The calendars are 17 x 11 inches in size when they are open.

Calendar comes with a free Christopher D. Bennett business card. Good for getting you out of any life or death situation involving Boone toughs.

If you wish to order a calendar or calendar(s), you may email me at:

bennett@photography139.com

If you live within reasonable driving distance (about 45 minutes from Boone’s Golden Circle) I can hand deliver the calendar free of charge.

If the calendar needs to be mailed, there will be a shipping and handling charge of some kind.

Order fast! Supplies are limited!

Thanks!

Around Christmas I had the pleasure of doing some commercial photography for Jessica. Here is a photo from one of my favorite of her pieces:

Septic Tank?

It has been awhile since I’ve been contracted for what I would consider to be commercial photography, but recently I was contracted by Jim Jordan to photograph a septic tank and a couple of items he wished sell.

Unfortunately for Boone, Iowa State University, Boone County, First United Methodist Church, and the Methodist Men,(just to name a few) Jim is moving away. He will leave a cavernous hole in the community. So I begrudgingly took the pictures that will help him leave us behind to enrich a new town, church, and community.

Next week’s randomness might involve the Block Party or it might involve something else. I don’t like to be tied down to the expectations that I have set for other people.

Not to Be…

Nate recently got a gig to be the Chef at a new restaurant. He tapped me to photograph a few of the dishes for the menu that Dae Hee was going to design. But things fell apart before the restaurant even opened and before I even edited the images.

Food is notoriously difficult to photograph (despite what Instagram might lead you to believe) and since these images were never edited, you will have to imagine what they would look like if they were color corrected and what not.

The good news for me is that I still got to eat all these tasty meals. The bad news for you is that it might be a little bit before you get to try these tasty meals.

Live United

I was contacted a few weeks back by Shannon about doing some photography for the United Way campaign. They had a pretty specific request that required a fair amount of Photoshop expertise.

Because I had not the time or the patience to complete the project I talked Mike Vest into doing the Photoshop part of the project while I did the photography. The two images below are the result.

Rebecca Anderson acted as the art director for this project.

Next week’s random Wednesday pictures will cover a recent trip to Kalona.
