Slice of Life Vol. 110

Time has not been kind to some of these negatives, but they do still exist.

More pictures of Boone legend Pockets.

Also a picture of my Great Aunt Ellen, who was/is a saint!

There are also pictures of pictures of the old Bennett coal mine near Rippey, Iowa. You didn’t know that I was descended from coal barons, did you?

  1. I’m pretty sure those mines by Rippey aren’t too far from where my parents live. Road trip sometime?

  2. That would be cool.

My schedule is fairly open in the month of August.

We should also discuss that SW Iowa road trip at some point.

  3. Hi Chris. I’ve got a photo somewhere of the Bennett Mine with my dad, John William Bennett, working at the mine. He was just a young boy. His job had something to do with shoveling shale. You may already have it.

  4. 2 things.

First and foremost, I’d love to see that picture. I don’t think that I’ve seen that particularly picture and if I did, I didn’t know that Grandpa Bennett was in it.

Second, I notice that whenever you write about your Dad, you type out his full name: John William Bennett. I’m curious as to why you do that?
