Mini + 2(Ha)

On my recent trip to Minneapolis I efforted to photograph Minnehaha Falls.

Below is a picture from those efforts. (Waterfall not included)

Minnehaha Creek

Bethany and Tempe accompanied me on this trip. It was then that she revealed to me that her favorite way to break the law iS to illegally park. My favorite way to break the law is to trespass to take photographs. Although what really constitutes trespassing, really?

The trail to get down to THE falls was chained off, but since the area was already lousy with people, I pressed on. As soon as I got to the bottom of the stairs it became incredibly evident why this trail was closed down. The trail was a victim of the perfect storm of slippery. Packed snow, that had melted and then froze over. Then to add another layer of slick, the mist from the waterfall was falling onto the trail and freezing.

I managed to only bite it hard one time. Not on this picture though.

Don’t worry Bethany and Tempe stayed safe up top.

  1. You don’t often see photos of a fall from the top looking over. This is really a cool perspective.

  2. I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that this little run of water isn’t “the” waterfall. Not the one that people think about when they think Minnehaha Falls.

  3. We meant to make it to these Falls when we were up in the cities this past summer, but our time went too quickly. We’re hoping to make another trip this summer. And I intend to drag the family to that crazy doughnut store.

  4. Last time I went up there I went to a new donut place called SSS-DUDE-NUTZ.

I’m not really sure what to make of the place, but the donuts were still pretty good. Not in the league with Glam Doll though. You do definitely need to hit Glam Doll.

So many great restaurants up there though.

Also a few decent waterfalls across the border in Wisconsin I’m told.

At some point, I want to go up to Duluth. Maybe sometime this year.

  5. That is an interesting name for a donut place. Not sure if it would help or hamper traffic.

Duluth is beautiful – I went three times for Ortho. It was really nice, and I didn’t even venture out as much as I would have liked.
