Here are a few extra, bonus images from the Lone Wolf photo shoot with Sara.
Sara was full of creative ideas on this night and she helped improvise when I realized that I had left a key part of my tripod at home, making the tripod essentially useless and making the image I wanted to capture impossible.
Oh well, there will be other nights at Gray’s Lake. After all, The Summer of Fun will be kicking off very soon. Perhaps as early as May 8!
I absolutely love the lighting on the walkway on the bridge. I know some people want it to have a more classic look, but it just makes it so fun. I love that you really captured everything.
I can’t wait for the new “Asian” looking bridge to open up over the Des Moines Register. I’m also excited for when they finish the old railroad bridge that goes over the Des Moines River between Woodward and Madrid done.
I wish that they would convert the old Kate Shelley High Bridge into a bridge that humans would be allowed to traverse, but I think that is somewhat of a pipe dream. But it would be pretty sweet, wouldn’t it?
I do look forward to going back to Gray’s Lake at night with a tripod and getting more acceptable images. It seems like everytime that I go there, I forget something.
Man, I haven’t been to the Kate Shelley High Bridge in years and years – but it would be such a beautiful area if they could get it passable to humans. I really hope that you get back to Gray’s Lake soon – it’s just gorgeous. I hadn’t even heard about the Register’s bridge!
Don’t be offended by this, but I’m a little surprised that you know Gray’s Lake so well. You and Jon kind of strike me as the stay at home and watch the Gameshow Network types. Even before you were forced into this lifestyle.
Do I have you pegged wrong? Is there a naturalist in there that I don’t know about?
As far as a person can be a naturalist at a park that is in the middle of the biggest city in Iowa.
I have a picture of the new and old high bridges that I’ve been meaning to post. Maybe I’ll do that tomorrow or Sunday.
We ARE bigger fans of doing things indoors rather than out, generally – we’ve attempted camping, but my allergies and general disdain of outhouses have severely hampered the attempt. Jon used to go to eat lunch at Gray’s Lake a lot this fall when he was working in Des Moines, though, and showed me around a couple of times. It’s really beautiful!
