One of the benefits of THE SELFIE PROJECT is that I can look back at a month and feel less worthless. Hey, I actually did go out and do stuff and see people in month X. I’m a winner!
Speaking of winners, these are the photos I consider winners from the month of August:
August 2, 2017
Remember that THE SELFIE PROJECT photos are posted on Instagram on the daily. If you don’t know, Instagram is that little sliver of social media that doesn’t suck… much. There are a few lazy slackjaws out there that post memes, but other than that, it is just pictures. Any way you can follow me at the account below:
Now I need to make sure that my September is almost as great as my August!

Is the Deadpool thing a mask? A toy? Are there breathing holes?
Kristal Korin yelled at me for taking a selfie with the eclipse. It’s not like it was sunny… But don’t show that to her.
Did I tell you that I got Charlie a shirt custom-made that has the lyrics “I’m not a player, I just crush a lot” with Godzilla smashing a town on it? Reminds me of your PIXALOT plate. But far less appropriate.
I’m always surprised by what posts you comment on and what ones you don’t.
The photo with my eclipse watching crew was taking way after the eclipse was over and we aren’t even looking up. I think she’d be cool with it.
That is Spider-man, not Deadpool. I mean, come on! Also, it is a popcorn bowl.
That is an amazing shirt. Not sure why you didn’t order me one.
Taken. Not taking.
I read and look at every post via my email subscription – commenting usually depends on if I’m at a PC vs on my phone when I receive the update. I have difficulty with CAPTCHA on my crappy iPhone sometimes, so that usually mitigates my mobile responses some. I wish the answer were more enigmatic than that.
You’d probably get the “Scientist Stamp of Approval” on that, yes. You’re likely safe.
Yeah, the eye shape should have given it away – although, I haven’t seen the new Spiderman movies with Andrew Whosit, so I’m not entirely current there. Also, you somehow seem more like a Deadpool guy than a Spiderman guy to me. If there’s a “type” for either. Does the top of his head come off for popcorn? I’m having difficulty conceptualizing this.
I am pretty sure I’m going to keep ordering them in the next size up as he grows, so I can get you one next time. I can forward you a photo of it, if you’d like – I haven’t played any Big Pun for the boy, but he at least enjoys Godzilla and breaking things.
I don’t really have a favorite comic book character. The ones that make movies that don’t suck. Not sure which ones those are. When I was a kid, my favorite was the Incredible Hulk. Mostly I just wish they would stop making comic movies.
The head opens up. It is an attached lid.
You have to raise your kid right and if that doesn’t include Godzilla, then you aren’t doing it right.
I’m admittedly not a huge comic book movie fan. I am not a huge action move fan overall. I like some comedies, but generally not the big ones. I’ve become sort of a movie snob. 🙁 Mostly dramas and some indie comedies. I’ve seen some of the new X-Men ones with Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender, and one or two of the Marvel things. So I am definitely not super-knowledgeable.
So long as the Matthew Broderick one is not in the discussion, Godzilla is included in our child-rearing.
I like all genres of movies. I just want them to be well done or if they are going to be awful, they should be entertaining in their awfulness. Like THE ROOM or DANGEROUS MEN.
I’ve probably seen all the Marvel Universe movies. Some are really well done like IRON MAN and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. But even the worst Marvel movie is probably better than the best DC movie. WONDER WOMAN does not deserve its reputation. I think it got graded on a curve by comparing it to BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN which is one of the worst movies ever made.
I enjoy RDJ overall (although I suspect he’s fairly douchey in real life), so I have also liked the one or two Iron Mans I have seen. We’ve only seen the first Guardians movie, but I also enjoy Chris Pratt, so that one has also been far better than the others.
I haven’t seen B vs S, but heard it was an atrocity. I saw Wonder Woman – while it was better than, say, a Fast and Furious movie, I don’t think you can hold it up against, say, the Christopher Nolan Batman movies. I admittedly am not incredibly knowledgeable about who is DC and who is Marvel unless Jon reminds me or I think about it hard – but I still screw up some of them (I thought Spiderman was DC, was very wrong).
