My annual trip to the State Center Rose Garden was kind of bittersweet. I went earlier than normal because of how early flowers have been blooming this year. As it turns out, I probably went too early and it was definitely too windy to get as many great pictures as last year.
Another bittersweet aspect of this trip is that I normally make this trip with my Mom. However, this year I made this trip on the way to bring her home from the hospital. We’ll make this trip again together next year.
The rest of the Sorrow and Gladness – 2012 Series:
I was a little disappointed to find out the the State Center Rose Garden wasn’t on Foursquare, but I have since remedied that situation. You’re welcome America!
Peonies are perhaps my favorite flower that I don’t own. I’ve been considering remedying that recently, I’m just not quite sure where to put them in my yard. They are also the one flower I think that just begs you to go crazy with the saturation. I did manage to hold back on that this year while photographing my grandma’s peonies.
The rest of the Whispering Beauty – 2012 Series:
Another thing I love about peonies is that they are always crawling with insects and of course, I love insects!
I have had an army of people take care of Naima while my Mom has been in an out of the hospital the last few months. I am in the debt of all those people:
Plus, I’m sure there are at least a couple of others that I am forgetting. Thank you and keep up the good work!
More pictures of my golden beast:
I’m sure there will be a ton more Naima pictures as the days, months, and years go by!
Shannon contacted me about contributing some photos to the wall near her desk at the United Way of Story County office a couple months back.
I was able to get those pictures ordered for her and she got them on the wall a couple weeks back. I don’t have a picture of the wall at this time as I haven’t had a chance to go see it, but here is a general idea of what it looks like:
To see those pictures a tad bit larger:
When I get a chance to see the new Photography 139 Gallery, I will post a photo.
It is pretty well established that I like pictures of animal noses. This was simply a picture of Naima’s nose.
However, since this is notoriously difficult to photograph, here are a few other attempts at dog nose from the Portrait of a Dog I Know Series.
I’m sure there will be many more Naima based Personal Photo Projects over the years. None of them will involve dog clothing though. That much is guaranteed.
I only had time last year to make a handful of calendars. If you didn’t get a calendar this year, I am sorry. I only had one left and I gave it to Nader because he actually called and asked for one. If somebody begged I suppose I could print another one off, but who would want a calendar that is almost 25% useless?
Here are the images from this years Photography 139 Calendar:
As usual, Mike Vest helped finish up the calendars with his hole punching and binding skills. Thanks Mike!
