Kyle recently was crowned Winter Formal King. Making the latest person I know to become royalty. I think I know 4 people that are royalty at this point in my life. At least, I can think of 4 people off the top of my head.

There is a plethora of Kyle photos left to share, but next Formal Portrait Sunday will involve the Stenslands.

2011-05-01

The pictures in the folder 2011-05-01 are from a photo shoot from when Alice turned 9 months old. I haven’t taken baby photos in a long time. Quick, somebody go get knocked up!

Next Saturday’s walk down memory lane will involve a track meet.

Shelby and Mills County Auxiliary Images – Vol. 1

A few weeks back I cruised around Shelby and Mills County (and Pottawattamie County) harvesting their town signs. Here is the first collection of auxiliary images from this trip. Including some pictures of what I think might be the prettiest church in Iowa. But no, I’m not going to make a Iowa Church Power Rankings at any point in the future.

The Juncks 2021 – Volume 1

On this formal portrait Sunday, I’m going to share a collection of pictures from the Juncks 2021 Photo Shoot. Many of their pictures, are posed with an old time automobile that David build. It isn’t an original vehicle, but he built it based on the original. At least that is my understanding. It is an electric car. From 1890.

Throw It All Away

This is the final collection of flower pictures I took at the Iowa State Fair in 2021. There are also a few pictures of a monarch butterfly that I also captured, photographically.

This is your reminder that this week’s THE WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE theme is #LOVE.

WEEK 333 - LOVE
#LOVE

But what is a #LOVE photo you may be asking? It is simply a picture that you would #LOVE on Instagram. It can be a picture that depicts #LOVE or it could simply be a picture of something you #LOVE. And the thing you love can be as simple as “Man, I really love these cheesy gordita crunch!” Snap. Post. #LOVE. Although in fairness, everything from Taco Bell is gross and if you love one of those, you might have serious psychological issues. But like I said, here at Photography 139 love is love and #LOVE IS #LOVE.

If you are person that has been through some stuff, and there is a burned out husk where your heart used to be, I got you. Think on these kinds of #LOVE:

+ Philia – affectionate love. A love that runs deep in true friendships.
+ Pragma – enduring love. Mature love that develops over time.
+ Storge – familiar love. Love between parents and children or childhood friends and siblings.
+ Eros – romantic love. Infatuation and physical pleasure.
+ Ludus – playful love. Flirting and beginning stages of intimate love.
+ Mania – obsessive love. Obsessiveness or madness over a love partner. This might be called stalking these days.
+ Philautia – self love. Having a healthy self-compassion love towards one’s self.
+ Agape – selfless love. An empathetic attitude of love for everyone and anyone. Also describes God’s infinite, unconditional love.

You find just one of these types of love, or a disgusting cheesy gordita crunch, and you’re photo harvesting will go just fine.

Monona County Auxiliary Images

A few weeks back a tooled around Monona County and part of Harrison County harvesting town signs. Here is a collection of the auxiliary images I took on that trip:

Here is a little more information on the Turin Man from clio.com:

In 1955, a skeleton was discovered in a gravel pit near Turin, Iowa. Experts first proposed that these remains were about 10,000 years old, going back to the “early people” of the ice age era. As archaeologists continued to excavate, they found in succession three more human skeletons. After months of rigorous reconstruction of the remains and scientific testing, experts concluded that the skeletons were likely a family unit about 6,000 years old. The site provided evidence of prehistoric burial practices with many similarities to ancient burials found throughout the eastern United States. The skeletons found here in Turin were the oldest human remains discovered in the state until August of 2011, when archaeologists excavated a 7,000 year old village in Des Moines.

Next set of auxiliary images we will peek at are from Shelby and Mills counties.

Kyle – Volume 1

It is another formal portrait Sunday. This Sunday I’m going to share a collection of pictures from Kyle Sharp’s photo shoot(s). Kyle is a senior at Boone High School, was an active member in my church’s youth group and is the son of Andy, a frequent contributor to THE WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE:
