I’m trying to piece the 2011 archives together across a few different hard drives. I know I have definitely lost a bunch of images in 2011, but I’m always discovering some that I thought were lost but really aren’t. In the folder 2011-01-27 are the first set of pictures I ever took for THE 9 EMOTIONS PROJECT. It is a project I keep saying that I’m going to visit again, but then, I just never do. I’ll get to it. I just need to find more friends that like having their picture taken.

I didn’t take many pictures in the month of December in 2010, so I decided to just do the entire month and combine all the folders into one mega sized post. There are pictures in here from a family portrait fundraiser (that was not a huge success) for the youth group. There are a few pictures taken on Christmas Eve around the church. Then a bunch of pictures taken for different THE WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE, back then known as THE RANDOM WEEKLY PHOTO EXPERIMENT.

There was really only one picture in the folder 2010-11-15, so I decided to include 2010-11-18 in this post. The picture in the folder 2010-11-15 is a picture of Jill holding her flute that I took for THE WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE, back then known as the RANDOM WEEKLY PHOTO EXPERIMENT. 2021 Iowa State Fair Photography Salon Personal Results

By the time this publishes, my entries in this year’s Iowa State Fair Photography Salon should be safely in my possession. It seems like a good time to share what pictures I entered and how they fared.

2021 Iowa State Fair Photography Salon -

Class 45: Planes, Trains & Automobiles – Honorable Mention

Class 22: Black & White People – Selected for Display

Class 17: Plants, Flowers & Trees – Honorable Mention

Class 13: USA Places & Landscapes – Not Selected for Display

I’m not going into the picture of my Mom that I entered, but probably will in a later post. I don’t think she would have liked to have a picture of her entered, but I also know she would have gotten over it pretty quickly.

I’ll just concentrate on the picture that didn’t get in. It was the one that I was most confident would get accepted for display, which meant it was doomed from the beginning. I entered it based mostly on the fact that it was the most commented on picture from the 2021 Photography 139 Calendar. I will never know why it wasn’t accepted for display, but I have a feeling it it because the highlights are overblown. Oh well, I guess it is time to start thinking on the 2022 Iowa State Fair Photography Salon.

So many of the folders 2010-10-04, 2010-10-11, 2010-10-12, 2010-10-15, and 2010-10-16 had so few images, that I decided to make a mega conglomeration. There are pictures here that were used for THE WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE (back then known as the RANDOM WEEKLY PHOTO EXPERIMENT) and pictures used for the program for the 2010 Philanthropy Day and finally pictures from a photo shoot with the Gorshes shortly after Evie was born.

This is your reminder that this week’s THE WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE theme is COMMUNICATION:

COMMUNICATION

COMMUNICATION! What a great theme for Year 8 of THE WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE!

But what is a COMMUNICATION image? It is simply any picture that shows a type of COMMUNICATION or people COMMUNICATIONing or things that are used for COMMUNICATION. For example, in the theme reveal there are several things being COMMUNICATIONed. The business is a carwash. The phone number to reach the proprietor is 515-890-1900. Somebody fears the commercialization of Christmas. They also must like fish. Signs are a great form of COMMUNICATION, as just an example.
