Mingled Souls
This picture was taken one fairly cold Sunday night with Sara helping out.
A few other pictures from that night. One of these was taken by Sara.
We also scouted out an alley and couple of other potential late night photo subjects in downtown Des Moines.
Oh, wow, is this a piece of art down in Des Moines, or did you somehow put this together? These are awesome.
This is in the sculpture garden in downtown Des Moines.
Should you ever wander, this is what my head feels like when composing poetry. Only with words, not just letters. I am seeing this sculpture in a whole new light now 🙂
As you guys know, I almost always take my photo titles from quotes and the quote this comes from is definitely a reach. I couldn’t find quotes about alphabetical letters that wasn’t from Sesame Street, so I took this from a quote about the correspondence type of letter:
“More than kisses, letters mingle souls.” It is a quote from John Donne. I know nothing of John Donne. Apparently a poet of some kind.
I bring this up because your statement about what is going on in your mind when you are composing reminds me of what was always my favorite part of Hamlet.
Hamlet is reading a book and he is asked what he is reading. He replies:
“Words, words, words.”
I’ve always considered that to be a perfect answer to almost any question that I wasn’t really all that interested in answering.
