Can you believe it? 46 straight weeks of double digit submissions! I thought for sure the derecho would maybe put a hitch in THE WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE’S giddy up this week. But it was barely even a bump in the road for most of you. The rest of you, I’m going to assume you still don’t have power and your roof is lying in your neighbor’s field.

But you didn’t come here to listen to me talk all tommyrot about participation rates. You came to see the submissions!

HOUSEKEEPING

A MESSAGE FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHY 139 RULES DIVISION

The picture has to be taken the week of the theme. This isn’t a curate your pictures challenge. This is a get your butt off the couch (my personal experience) and put your camera in your hands challenge. Don’t send me a picture of you next to the Eiffel Tower, when I know you were in Iowa all week. I will point out that I have let that slide some in the past. I will not in the future. Since it is literally about the only rule.

Your submission needs to be emailed to bennett@photography139.com by 11 AM on the Monday of the challenge due date.

I now allow people to text me their submissions. In the past, I had made exceptions for a couple people that aren’t real computer savvy, even though it was an inconvenience for me and required at least 3 extra steps for me. I am now lifting that embargo because I have a streamline way of uploading photos. I’m not giving out my phone number, but if you have it, you can text me.

It should be pointed out that this blog auto-publishes at 12:01 on Mondays. So it wouldn’t hurt to get your picture in earlier.

2010-03-01 & 2010-03-04

The pictures in the folders 2010-03-01 and 2010-03-04 are mostly from some pictures I took for the Computer Mine newsletter and for Personal Photo Project #10.

That PERSONAL PHOTO PROJECT was to take a picture of Jill’s foot and place it behind a window. Sadly, the resulting piece of work fell into disrepair. I threw it in the basement to store. During the recent basement workings I found it again. Not sure what to do with it. Probably time for the trash pile, but maybe great pieces of art should be burned like a flag. Or it will probably will just continue to take up space in my basement.

I thought I would give you a break from flowers for a day and shows some pictures of some baby robins from my front yard. A pair of robins built a nest in my bush in my front yard for the second time this year. Here are some pictures:

I recently added a birdhouse and a second bird feeder to my property. Well it is really a first bird feeder, because I keep the first bird feeder for the wasp nest that I nurture.

Actually the second bird feeder was a gift from my Mom and the birdhouse was a gift from Kio. The second bird feeder has proved to be popular thus far.

Thought that this would be a good day to share the balance of pictures I took while I was tooling around Boone County looking for my BLACK AND WHITE and Happy Independence Day photos.

The sign says:

On July 31, 1943 a U.S. Army Air Force B-24 Bomber Ser. No 41-29052 carrying a crew of 5, crashed at this site during a server thunderstorm killing everyone on board.

This marker is placed in their memory.

The Baugher Wedding – Three

Day, I think 45 of working from home. Not sure I’ve discovered any other positives of working from home, this week. But… I finally started working on the basement. I did take some before pictures and I will post them when the project is done.

I do know that I’m going to need lots and lots and lots of garbage bags for this project. I’m also going to try to find some new homes for a few things. So if you could use a day bed, let me know. Otherwise, it will be going to the landfill on June 7 as part of the City Wide Clean-Up. Along with several tables and chairs, I’m sure.

I might post the items that are getting downsized, to see if anybody wants any of those things before they are consigned to the ash heap of history.

Here it is. The virtual end of the 2019 backlog. Yes, there are still a handful of senior pictures out there to curate, but I’m going to finish those off on Senior Sundays.

This means, to the relief of many I’m sure, I will be going back down to just 1 or zero posts a day. I’m not sure when my default time of day will be to publish said posts, but if you have an opinion, feel free to leave it in the comments section.

The Baugher Wedding – One

I don’t even know how many work days from home it is now. I think it is 40. Who knows any more. But I did discover a new positive this week.

That the new positive. I like being able to use my lunch hour to mow. I’m not a big fan of mowing. I actually enjoy yard work, but I don’t enjoy mowing. I feel like I lose a whole night when I have to mow. But mowing during my lunch hour feels like a good use of time.

An Artist’s Notebook Post #3751

We have hit another milestone in the history of “An Artist’s Notebook”. Post #3751. I would normally make these statistical look back at the past type posts on even numbers, but I felt you guys were probably chomping at the bit to see the entries for RULE OF THIRDS.

This blog/online journal burst onto the world on August 9, 2006. Nearly 14 years later, it is somehow still around. That is success of some kind. At least it is perseverance.

As you know, I like meaningless statistics. That is what these posts are usually about. That and to take stock as to how I’m doing with my original mission to:

#1. Write in it.
#2. To be truthful as possible towards my true thoughts and feelings.
#3. Produce something that makes me worthy of having a pretentious sounding journal title like: “An Artist’s Notebook”.

I’m going to say that I continue to manage all 3. You probably wouldn’t know if I was being honest with you on my thoughts and feelings anyways. You’ll just have to take my work for it.
