I have a rather shocking confession. I have never done LSD. However, if I had tried LSD, I imagine the experience would be something like walking across the High Trestle Trail Bridge on a dark night.
Several weeks back my cousin Sarah and my Aunt Linda were in town and we did just that. Here are a few pictures from the evening:
Recently the neighbors have complained that the bridge is too noisy at night and now the authorities are turning the lights off at 9 PM. Very sad.
One of the benefits of THE SELFIE PROJECT is that I can look back at a month and feel less worthless. Hey, I actually did go out and do stuff and see people in month X. I’m a winner!

I wish I could tell you the remaining themes are as easily accessible as YELLOW and SKY, but they aren’t. There are some challenging ones in there. But I know you guys are up to the challenge!
But enough dwelling on the past. Time to look to the future. We are all interested in the future, for that is where you and I are going to spend the rest of our lives. And remember my friend, future events such as these will affect you in the future! This week’s theme:
COLD! What a great theme! I don’t think I need to explain COLD. It is a temperature that we haven’t felt much of lately here in the middle of the Cyclone State. But it is more than just a temperature. People can be COLD. Actions can be COLD. Feel free to define COLD any way you see fit!

THE STREETS! What a great theme! Some of you know about THE STREETS. People like me that grew up indigent know all about THE STREETS. Some of us even know the Rules of THE STREET(S). You open you mouth, you pay the price. But what does this theme mean? It is my call to you to attempt street photography. What is street photography, you may ask… which is good, because I have the answer:
Street photography is a type of photography that features subjects in candid situations within public places. Street photographs are mirror images of society, displaying “unmanipulated” scenes, with usually unaware subjects.”
Well that sounds simple enough. Get in touch with your inner voyeur and hit THE STREETS!
I have a feeling this is going to go well!

As it so happens, I’m actually short of TIME to write a description of TIME right now. So the short, short version is that the idea of TIME is to capture a moment or moments in TIME. This should be done with either an extremely short or a long exposure. However, there are obviously other ways to define TIME. Some people think that TIME doesn’t even exist. Feel free to use any definition of TIME that works for you.

For those of you that are observant of my schedule, I will be in Saint Paul on a mission trip next Monday. That doesn’t change the schedule of events. I won’t have much access to my email until I return to the Cyclone State on Friday, therefore I won’t reveal the submission until I return or until I feel that I have adequately recovered physically, emotionally, and psychologically.

PORTRAIT! What a great theme! I think everybody knows what a PORTRAIT is, but don’t think that you have to make this a formal portrait. A group of people awkwardly posed in front of some scene from nature. You CAN do that, but you don’t have to do that. Candids work great as well! Don’t think that a PORTRAIT has to be of a human subject. Animals make great portraits. So do inanimate objects. Don’t think that a PORTRAIT has to be of a face. Think creatively and feel free to define the theme any way you see fit!

AMERICANA! What a great theme! But what is AMERICANA. Basically, AMERICANA is/be/are things associated with the culture and history of America, especially the United States. Many things can fall under AMERICANA. Paintings, prints and drawings, license plates or entire vehicles, household objects, tools and weapsons, flags, plaques and statues.. Nostalgia often plays into AMERICANA.
Basically anything that screams AMERICA to you. From small town festivals to the local VFW. Have at it. Remember, you can define the theme anyway that you see fit. Just get out there and take some photos!

This should be an easy enough theme. I don’t know that there are people out there that still SMOKE. At least I don’t think that I know anybody that still SMOKEs. Vaping seems to be the order of the day now. However, cigarettes is the worst way to create smoke any way. Fire that is the best way to create smoke. So, go out there and start a fire and get a quality SMOKE picture.
