Obsolete
This week’s Personal Photo Project was to photograph the depot area of the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad.
The rest of the Obsolete Series:
Next week’s Personal Photo Project of the Week might involve Mums.
I felt mostly uninspired by the themes of the previous 7 days, but once I got to editing, I’m pretty pleased with the results:
The themes for the next 7 days:
Day 71 – Fall Colors
Day 72 – Red
Day 73 – Emotion
Day 74 – Something Closeup
Day 75 – On the Table
Day 76 – Landscape
Day 77 – Make You Laugh
I have to confess that I did flop a couple (nearly all) of these days around for convenience and to work around special events. This is a practice I don’t condone, but one that I won’t shy away from in the future.
The 3rd 7 days of the 365 Day Photo Challenge:
These are the themes for the next 7 days:
Day 22 – Fowl
Day 23 – At the Frame’s Edge
Day 24 – From Your Car Window
Day 25 – Pair
Day 26 – Path
Day 27 – A Group
Day 28 – Dream
I’m sure you are already speculating as to what I will do with these themes!
After months of hype, Naima and I finally were able to make our 1st trip to the Ames Dog Park recently.
Unfortunately, despite having a very good park system, Boone does not have a dog park. This is a hint for any would-be future Boone mayoral candidates out there. If you want my support you know my 2 conditions.
Number 1 involves the Pufferbilly Parade and a pink dress. You know what I’m talking about.
Number 2 involves bringing a dog park to Boone.
The trip from Ames to Boone had its moments as Naima is convinced that she is a lap dog, but once we got there I was very pleased with how everything went. I was hoping there weren’t many other dogs there for our first trip and there weren’t.
In the big-dog-dog-park there were really only two dogs. A German Shepard that just kept walking the trail over and over again. Then a big black dog that wasn’t overly interested in playing.
So Naima mostly kept to herself as she walked the perimeter of the park smelling everything out.
Here are a few pictures of the trip and from before the trip:
The only thing I think Naima didn’t enjoy was being separated from the small dogs. There were quite a few more small dogs at the park that she was sad that she couldn’t get to play with. She is accustomed to playing with small dogs as her top playmate is Carla’s dog Chloe who tips the scale at 10 pounds.
It was certainly worth the drive and I hope Naima thought it was worth her shoulder surgery and weeks of puppy bedrest!
Next week’s Random Wednesday will feature pictures of Evie!
Relay for Life for Boone County was last Friday night. The picture below, although not many, would have been considered a miracle in January. They are still considered a miracle now.
Willy ran 40 miles and was able to raise some money for the cause that way. He decided to do this at the last second. Perhaps we will have to organize him for next year?!?!?
I added another lens to my arsenal recently. For many a moon I have longed for a fisheye lens. However, for a lens of limited use, the prices are often astronomical. However, after doing much research I did find a few that were priced reasonably. Not one this guy’s bank account would call cheap, but certainly affordable. Don’t worry, Naima and Foster won’t be missing any meals.
This is the first picture I ever took with this sweet baby:
Here are the technical specs on the new toy:
f/Stop Range: f/3.5 – 22
Minimum Focus Distance: 12″
Angle of View: 180 degrees
Groups/Elements: 7/10 (hybrid aspherical lens)
Length: 2.95″
I have to admit, I’ve already fallen in love with the little guy. If you are wondering, the next planned equipment upgrade will probably be studio lighting. However, this might be a little bit. I have to finish painting the studio.
Speaking of which, who wants to help paint the studio?
This project was just to capture some pictures of storied Goeppinger Field with the fisheye lens. Hope you are enjoying the fisheye lens 1/20th of as much as I am enjoying it, because it isn’t going away. I expect you’ll see more sporting events captured with it in the future. I’m really excited to take it to The Jack this Fall.
The rest of the Go for the Great Series.
Of course thanks to Logan for running track. Otherwise I wouldn’t have even been at this event and taken these pictures.
I’m not sure I ever really got the picture of Willy that I wanted, but I do know for sure that I didn’t want Naima in the picture. It is funny how a dog that has a knack for being extremely difficult to photograph, would fight her way into this picture of Willy.
Oh well, she adds some humor to this photo.
Here are a few other pictures from the Reason and Faith Series.
If you are sensing a special glow in Willy it is because these pictures were taken the same day that he won a 5K in Nevada, with a certain amount of ease it should be pointed out.
