The Virtue of the Bored

I got a few late submissions for Macro that I thought that I would share. The first picture is from Justin Whitaker. Otherwise known as Julie Johnson’s boyfriend and author of the American Buddhist Perspective. Justin Whitaker Carla actually sent in 4 pictures, but she sent them to the wrong… Read More »The Virtue of the Bored

The Digital Bouquet

As promised, here are some of the other pictures I took for RWPE #4 – Plants. I still need to tinker with a few of these, but I’m mostly pleased with the results.

November

The Eternal Seductiveness of Life Because the calendar is a landscape medium, this picture actually appears in the calendar in landscape form with not much of the allium showing but the flower. It was originally taken in portrait orientation.

August

A Proud Assertion “Flowers… are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty outvalues all the utilities of the world.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson

July

The Solace of Ordinary Humanity Although this picture is named for the following quote from the enigmatic John Ruskin: “Flowers seem intended for the solace of ordinary humanity.” But the story of this flower is actually more akin to the Tennessee Williams quote: “The violets in the mountains have broken… Read More »July

May

This is the only monthly picture in the calendar that is manipulated in Photoshop in a meaningful way. I could see how somebody could think that June is a Photoshop manipulation, but in the spirit of the way that I see things, it isn’t. But we will open up that… Read More »May

March

This picture was taken in Upper Ledges in one of their prairies. This picture was taken during the same photo sojourn as when I took Monica’s Childhood. A picture that was Monica’s favorite, but not the picture she selected for the Pufferbilly Days Photo Contest. Monica’s Choice

Window Project #2

Kelly’s salon recently had their Grand Re-opening after all of their remodeling. I hadn’t put a picture up in Salon 908 since the remodeling, so I decided to do a window project for the salon. For a closer look at Window Project #2, you will need to go to Salon… Read More »Window Project #2

Vacation Stuff – One

I was on vacation last week. I had a few mini-adventures. Here are some pictures from one of those mini-adventures. If you have specific questions about certain pictures, I am willing to answer direct questions. But the answer will be in 5 words or less.

Becky Perkovich

Becky made the final selection. Misplaced Plant Becky also had other pictures that she liked. They are below with the reason she liked them. “Fire Pit – Everyone can relate to this photo.” “Fireworks Fallout – This photo is original” “Color Daisies – This photo feels hopeful.” “Story St Fire… Read More »Becky Perkovich

Jill Gorshe

I was pleasantly surprised by Jill’s choice. Since I had decided to have all people of the female persuasion pick the photos this year, I thought a frog picture would get very little love. But Jill came through for the frog. “It’ll Do Fine” I actually struggled with the naming… Read More »Jill Gorshe

Shannon Bardole

Shannon set the land speed record, by making her choice in 80 minutes. She made that speed while being at work. She chose the picture below: “Friend for the Lonesome” This picture may or may not be the background on Shannon’s computer.

Monica Henning

Monica had the next choice. She struggled between 2 pictures as well. She finally picked the picture below, even though it wasn’t her favorite. “The Solace of Ordinary Humanity” A picture that I have titled: “Monica’s Childhood” was actually her favorite. “Monica’s Childhood” Monica wrote perhaps my favorite ever description… Read More »Monica Henning

Boone County Fair

This is not meant to be in any way shape or form meant to be bragging. It is merely meant to be informative, since not everybody makes it to the Boone County Fair. I wanted to enter a couple of pictures in the Boone County Fair “photography contest”. As it… Read More »Boone County Fair

DFDA54

So the garlic might not have been the last mystery of my backyard. I still didn’t know what color my lilies would be when they bloomed. I got that answer late last week. Although I’m not in love with the color, it is satisfactory enough. At least they aren’t something… Read More »DFDA54
