Son of Rambow

This is the new must see movie of the year for me. It appeals to everything I love about movies. VIDEO DELETED I might try to re-assemble the old Rambo platoon for a viewing. I might need Baier to guilt trip Russell to get him there though.

Class of 1993

I’ve had some strange encounters with members of the Class of 1993. My home loan officer is from that legendary class. I ran into a member from the class at a nursing home. Then I met a member of the class during Fellowship at church. Interesting.

New Toy

I got a new toy for the camera in the mail yesterday. I did some experimenting with it. I know some cynics out there are thinking: “Wow you bought a toy that takes blurry pictures, congratulations.” I would only respond with a smile and say, “Yes I did!”

Acceptance

I got home from a Jaycees meeting tonight. We were able to hammer out the details of the band contract. This was actually way more difficult than I figured it would be. It included some quite lively debate about whether or not we should follow the law or not. I… Read More »Acceptance

Chicago 10

Last night I went to the Varsity with Nader to see Chicago 10. This is a fascinating documentary about the trial of the Chicago 7, 8 or 10 depending on what name you want to use. The film mixes animation with archival footage. I’m not fan of hippies, yippies, Democrats,… Read More »Chicago 10

Coppermine

I’ve started the process of creating new photo galleries. I’ve decided to finally update my photo galleries and have stumbled across a new way of doing the galleries. I just need to get Frank to install MySQL and PHP on his server. He doesn’t like installing new things, so between… Read More »Coppermine

Trip to Jester Park

I made a trip through Jester Park yesterday to see if the road to the bison was open yet. It was not open, but I did take a few pictures of some geese hanging out there.

Mystery

This has been bothering me for awhile. There are these giant cutouts near the intersection of Highways 17 and 141. Does anybody know why these things exist and what it is that they are trying to promote? Somebody please tell me about these things.

This Morning

I was kind of surprised when I woke up this morning and looked outside to see everything covered in a thick blanket of snow. It was an unpleasant surprise to find that nobody on the highway wanted to drive over 40 while I was on my way to work. I… Read More »This Morning

A New Gig

Shannon started her new gig with United Way of Story County. Her new job is worthy of a press release and she needed a head shot for this press release and their website. I got the pleasure to take this picture and below are some of the results. The Winner,… Read More »A New Gig

Usher Observations

I’ve been an usher at church the last two weeks. I usher again this coming Sunday. At first I was a little bit leery about being an usher. The main problem is that our traditional worship service begins at 8:55. That means to begin fulfilling the many usher duties (handing… Read More »Usher Observations

Relay for Life

Lowell and I discussed putting together a Relay for Life team for 2008 shortly after the 2007 Relay for Life event ended. Then we did nothing. A couple of Sundays ago they announced in church the need for members for our 2 Relay for Life teams. Lowell quickly signed us… Read More »Relay for Life

Random Romantic Thoughts

During the week I engage in random intellectual discussions with Andree, Russell, and Jason Baier. The topics covered range from music to movies to politics to sports to religion to fine dining. Yesterday Russell wanted to know what we considered to be the best romantic movies ever made. I thought… Read More »Random Romantic Thoughts
