August 9, 2006. That was the date where I first took keyboard in hand and began typing out the blog that I entitled “An Artist’s Notebook”. I entitled that first post “First Journal Entry”. The categories for that first post were “Blogging”, “Contests”, “Jay”, and “Sara”. This is the first… Read More »Post #4,000

I need to start by wishing everybody a happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day. I don’t have a picture to represent this holiday, but I do have a suggestion on a way to celebrate it. I suggest listening to THIS LAND podcast by Crooked Media. It is pretty incredible and infuriating and… Read More »WPC – WEEK 265 – SELF-PORTRAIT

Sorry that this is several minutes late today. I went to cast my ballot for the 2020 election during my lunch break from the mine: A reminder that if you live in Iowa, early voting starts today! It might be easier and safer than voting on November 3. But you… Read More »WPC – WEEK 264 – SIGNS
One of my goals when I was on vacation was to hit 5 State Parks that I’ve never been to before. I made this goal, but not quite like I anticipated. The two parks I definitely wanted to hit were Mines of Spain and Preparation Canyon. The other 3 were… Read More »Rodan139: Loess Hills

I meant to publish a post on this subject a week or so ago, but the derecho put those plans on hold. I’ve meant to be more proactive about writing about when I get new equipment, even equipment that is fairly small or seemingly inconsequential to most people. Hopefully this… Read More »Red Fish, Blue Fish
The pictures in the folders 2010-03-05 and 2010-03-07 are very distinct. There is a collection of images of dirty mustaches. Mustaches that Jesse and I sported as part of our team concept for a trivia night we attended. We were going to make the trivia night a tradition, but we… Read More »2010-03-05 & 2010-03-07
The pictures in the folders 2010-03-01 and 2010-03-04 are mostly from some pictures I took for the Computer Mine newsletter and for Personal Photo Project #10. There aren’t many images in the folders 2010-02-15, 2010-02-17, and 2010-02-22 so I combined them all into one post. Most of the pictures are of flowers. But there is a WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE photo in there and a self-portrait. By adding these pictures to the Photography 139 Gallery, I was… Read More »2010-02-15, 2010-02-17, & 2010-02-22

Since they announced that the Boone County Fair was a go, I have been on the fence about entering photography contest. Fortunately, that decision has been made. The contest has been cancelled. Most of the pictures in the folder 2010-01-02 are of a Personal Photo Project I worked on where I put a microphone next to a fish bowl and took a picture of it. This (like almost all of my photo projects) ended up being more difficult than I anticipated. Mostly… Read More »2010-01-02
