SURPRISE AHEAD

A short story

Age 10

Write what the pictures tell. Pictures are of a family in a station wagon driving down a road and the luggage that has been strapped to the top of the car has fallen off.

At a small town, in a planet called Earth, in a Continent called North America, in country called U.S.A, in a state California, in a town named San Diego. The Reeds packed for a trip. They were going to everybodies dream Spot Boone, Iowa. Mom Says, “Get in the car Marie, Dennis, and Jeff. But on the way the luggage comes off. Then Superfluff came along picked the stuff with a single claw. He ran at supersonic speed. Superfluff saves the day, when he catches up with the Reeds. Superfluff changes into his secret Identity as Fluffy as a rabbit, and a pet.

Zing!

Probably my favorite part of the Iowa State Fairgrounds in the garden next to the Agriculture Building. I only had a brief amount of time to enjoy the nation’s best state fair this year, so this was my first stop.

A zinnia in the garden next to the Agriculture Building at the Iowa State Fair.

The garden always has lots of zinnias, which is good, because I usually have none. Well this year I completely neglected my flowers. I’ll do better in 2016!

Wet Pooch

Tuesday night was the annual night where they let people take their dogs to the pool in Boone.

This is the 3rd straight year I’ve taken Naima. For the 3rd straight year, she loved being in the wading pool and any place where her paws could touch the bottom. However, in places where she had to swim, she didn’t like so much.

In this photo Naima is resting at home after what I think she considered to be a successful day at the pool.

Ohhh… Uncle Gary

I know quite a few people that would dislike this picture because one of the subjects isn’t giving a nice smile right at the camera.

That is the exact reason why I love this picture.

This picture was taken at my Grandma’s 90th Birthday Party. These are her children.

A lot of the circumstances of this picture weren’t ideal, but you have to make do with what you’re given some days.

Man Loved Flowers

Obviously I couldn’t wait too long without publishing a flower photo.

This is a picture of a flower that was entered into the flower competition at the Iowa State Fair.

Flower competitions remind me of an old quote:

God loved the flowers and invented soil. Man loved the flowers and invented vases.

Night Driving

I keep saying I’m going to get back to bloggin’, but it never seems to happen.

Well I think if I get a lot less ambitious, things might work out. So I’m just going to try to throw up something daily-ish. I didn’t want to get back on the horse with anything that was too obvious. Thought I would come at you with an image that is a little less accessible and slightly more abstract than a flower. Don’t worry Russell, plenty of flower pictures are coming your way.

South Dakota

Probably past time I posted some pictures from the mission trip to South Dakota.

In reality I could tell a thousand stories about this trip and write a page about each picture, but I’ll hold back and be satisfied with a brief description of each picture. If you want to know more, chances are you know where to find me.

I will point out that they split our group into 4 separate groups. Because of that I don’t have pictures of some of the kids and lots of pictures of the kids in my group (TEAM INVASION!).

Also, these are phone pictures. Sorry about the quality.

I often call the Youth Group Mission Trip the best free vacation ever! But truthfully, it is the week that I grow the most as a human being. In about every way imaginable.

Wet Squirrel

Last night while I was working in the basement I heard Naima barking up a storm. I went outside to check on her and she was barking at a slightly tipped over garbage can.

I looked down into the garbage can and barely visible in a half inch of black water was a ground squirrel.

Naima was so proud of this accomplishment.

I took the garbage can back to the alley and dumped its inhabitant out.
