A look back at the 2007 calendar, you know. For funsies!
January
Don’t forget, there is still time to order your 2016 PHOTOGRAPHY 139 CALENDAR!
Looking back at my records, as near as I can tell, the first year I made a calendar for was 2001. That means this years calendar is the sixteenth calendar I have produced.
I don’t have templates or know what was on the calendar before 2005.
However, I thought it would be a fun little exercise to look back at the calendars from the last 10 years. Starting with the 2006 Calendar:
Remember, there is still time to order your 2016 PHOTOGRAPHY 139 CALENDAR. I know a guy that knows a guy that can hook you up.
WARNING!
WHAT FOLLOWS IS A TRANSMISSION FROM PHOTOGRAPHY 139’S SHAMELESS COMMERCE DIVISION…
I did get a late jump on the calendars this year, but there is and will be a PHOTOGRAPHY 139 2016 CALENDAR for sale. I haven’t laid my hands on them yet, but the stash will arrive on Friday and be available for weekend delivery.
All the pre-orders will be fulfilled this weekend.
This year’s price is… $11.00… cheap.
The best way to order your calendar is to contact me via email bennett@photography139.com.
Here is a look at this year’s images.
There were requests this year that the calendar to include a wider swath of my work besides just photos. Apparently, more than just Russell hate my flower photography. I took this under consideration, but it just didn’t work out this year. However, the 2017 Calendar will consist of more than just flower pictures.
Who doesn’t like closing the week with a picture of a flower from the Iowa State Fair?
Okay, I do know a couple such people.

Sharing another picture from a west(ish) Kansas sunset because Laura says that west(ish) Kansas has the best sunsets.
When I told people I was going to visit Manhattan, they usually say: “Cool!”
Then I say, “No, the one in Kansas.”
Then they say, “Oh.”
After a long bit of silence they say, “Why?”
I can’t say that the restaurants have as good of food as real Manhattan (but Nate’s food more than compensates) or the sites are as interesting as real Manhattan. But the people can’t be beat. Think I’ll go back in January.

Been a bit since I published a flower picture from my trip to the Iowa State Fair. Some would say too long.
Time to remedy that!
Every day we inch closer to the photo that got me kicked out of the Iowa State Fair flower garden.

PHOTOSHOP
Did some stuff. But not much.
Decided to keep a vow (that I made to myself) to go even harder on the Dream Effect. Might have to do this effect with a person soon. Hmmmmm…
You can also see what this image looked like before the effect was applied, by clicking on the image and closing the “Buy this Photo” noise put up by Photography 139’s Shameless Commerce Division.

Always a good time to post a flower picture from my trip to the Iowa State Fair.
Happy Friday the 13th, opening day of Cyclones’ basketball, and the release date of the MR. SHOW reboot. Today is a great day!

Last week, in the comments section of this here blog (sometimes known as THE ARTIST’S NOTEBOOK) I promised to publish a photo using a special effect known as the dream effect. It was all the rage in photo contests a few years back. This image is the culmination of a promise that dates back… like a week.
I put a little bit of a light touch on it. I want you to be aware that something isn’t quite right, but not immediately aware of what it is.

We have been invaded, by an enemy far more lethal than any human force.
-Brad Crane
This photo is another tribute to a personal hero of mine Brad Crane. The scientist that saved America from the horrible bee invasion of 1978. Not only did he save us while doing minimal damage to the environment, it can’t be understated how snappy a dresser he was. I salute you Brad Crane.
