I have tried and failed twice at a 365 Day Photo Project. Seeing how this marks the halfway point of the year (from a month standpoint), why not try to not fail a third time.
Therefore, I’m unveiling my third attempt at a 365 Day Photo Project.
To make things easier on me, I’m going to take and edit all of these pictures on my phone.
I think in the past I’ve tried to get too ambitious with trying to take the picture with a big old DSLR or even a moderate sized point & shoot.
This way I know I won’t get too caught up in the quality of the image and I pretty much always have my phone on me. Plus this way, I don’t do what I’ve invariably done in my previous attempts, which is skipped days and tried to make them up on the weekend or even Monday morning.
By streamlining the photo taking apparatus and caring less about quality, I’m hoping to actually stay true to the purpose of this experiment and actually not fail this time. Even though I know both failures were due to noble causes.
I’m taking July’s list straight from the Fat Mum Slim website:
I might make my own list or combine lists in the future, but Fat Mum Slim will be my launching point.
Here is July’s List:
I’ll probably be uploading my daily picture to Flickr if you are looking for a preview. It is possible that some might get uploaded to Instagram as well, but I can’t make any promises on that front.
Hopefully I’ll see you back in here in 7 days with Days 1-7 successfully in the books!
It is a well documented fact that I don’t like the iris. If there was ever a flower that needed punched in the face, it is the iris. I don’t know if that is the reason, or what the reason actually would be, but for reasons I can’t fathom, I just couldn’t seem to find time to photograph the iris this year. Even though I seemed to find several decent examples of the species within my sphere of influence.
Therefore, the iris series is painfully short this year. Sorry Jen!
The rest of the Mad with Joy – 2013 Series:
Not sure what direction next week’s Personal Photo Project will go, but if I were betting man, I’d bet on purple and flower.
Once again, it was my great honor to do the photography for the Boone Little League Challenger program. I believe Lowell runs the program with an assist from Jesse, but I won’t quote that as gospel.
Some of my favorite images from the first day of photography:
Next Random Wednesday will involve the 2nd day of Challenger photography.
My Grandpa Paris passed away a few months after I was married in 2002. All of the stuff in his garage went mostly untouched for several years. Then about 3 years ago some of my aunts and uncles decided to rent out his garage so that Grandma could have a little extra cash each month. That required emptying out the garage.
One day I received a call from my Mom asking me if I wanted to go through any of the tools before they were thrown away. I’m not really a tool person, but I came over any way. I looked through the tools and didn’t really claim much of anything, but along the side of the garage was a big pile of random stuff. I asked what that stuff was, thinking that it had been set aside for somebody else, because it looked to be some pretty good stuff.
Only this pretty good stuff had only been set aside for the garbage man. So I started looking through it.
Somewhere in this collection I found a small picture frame, with a broken piece of glass, and a hand written bit of scripture from Romans. I grabbed this, took it home, cleaned it up, and sat it in my living room.
This picture frame was moved out of my living room when I was in deep on the floor project. Recently, I found where I had placed it and brought it back to the living room. A few hours later, I started working on cleaning and organizing and downsizing my guest bedroom. In this bedroom among the stuff I need to throw away, give away or just doesn’t quite belong to me, I found a small picture frame of the same size. I decided to take the glass from this frame and put it in the frame holding my grandpa’s scripture.
I pulled the back off grandpa’s picture frame and discovered that there wasn’t just one sheet of paper in the frame. There were several other quotes in there. I never would have found these other pieces of paper, if it wasn’t for that broken piece of glass.
The rest of the Found Series:
It definitely was a cool little discovery.
On Saturday, I completed a bargain I made with Sara back in February to “compete” in the Mud Run. Well, the way we handled it, it was more like a Mud Stroll and since it isn’t actually a competitive race, we didn’t really compete. However, we didn’t finish even close to last, you know, if it were a competition.
Shawn graciously agreed to be our photographer for the event, so here are some of the images he captured.
They recommended you triple knot your shoes. My shoes did not come off during the race like the hundred or so we saw littering the course.
I have to confess the course was harder than I expected and my shoes were so suctioned to my feet at the end of the day, I had to cut the shoe laces to get them off of my feet. I’m hoping to draft a few more people for next year’s run. Jesse has already signed on (assuming he can drag himself away from the Little League Park) for next year.
I have also tentatively agreed to do the Turkey Trot with Sara in November.
