WPC – WEEK 255 – NATURE
44 straight weeks of double digit submissions!! Absolutely incredible. Plus another week where I didn’t have to send out an reminder text messages. Nice!

TRANSPORTATION
TRANSPORTATION! What a great theme! But what is a TRANSPORTATION photo? A TRANSPORTATION image is a picture of anything related to the TRANSPORTATION of anything. It could be a car. A truck. A train. An airplane. A bicycle. A wagon. It could be a picture of anything that is related to any of those things. A road. A trail. A sidewalk. Railroad tracks. A dock. You get the idea.

HOUSEKEEPING
A MESSAGE FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHY 139 RULES DIVISION
The picture has to be taken the week of the theme. This isn’t a curate your pictures challenge. This is a get your butt off the couch (my personal experience) and put your camera in your hands challenge. Don’t send me a picture of you next to the Eiffel Tower, when I know you were in Iowa all week. I will point out that I have let that slide some in the past. I will not in the future. Since it is literally about the only rule.
Your submission needs to be emailed to bennett@photography139.com by 11 AM on the Monday of the challenge due date.
OR
I now allow people to text me their submissions. In the past, I had made exceptions for a couple people that aren’t real computer savvy, even though it was an inconvenience for me and required at least 3 extra steps for me. I am now lifting that embargo because I have a streamline way of uploading photos. I’m not giving out my phone number, but if you have it, you can text me.
It should be pointed out that this blog auto-publishes at 12:01 on Mondays. So it wouldn’t hurt to get your picture in earlier.
That is it, them’s the rules.

2010-03-01 & 2010-03-04
The pictures in the folders 2010-03-01 and 2010-03-04 are mostly from some pictures I took for the Computer Mine newsletter and for Personal Photo Project #10.
That PERSONAL PHOTO PROJECT was to take a picture of Jill’s foot and place it behind a window. Sadly, the resulting piece of work fell into disrepair. I threw it in the basement to store. During the recent basement workings I found it again. Not sure what to do with it. Probably time for the trash pile, but maybe great pieces of art should be burned like a flag. Or it will probably will just continue to take up space in my basement.
By adding these pictures to the Photography 139 Gallery, I was able to restore the following historic “An Artist’s Notebook” entries to their original glory:

Hey You Man
Today’s collection is a bunch of ANIMAL pictures that weren’t quite ready for mainstream consumption on Monday. Most of them were taken at Jester Park. But a few were taken in my backyard.
I still have another collection of images of ANIMAL alternates in our future.
Abstractions
Today’s collection is a few pictures I took back in May where I was experimenting with water and flowers. Also, some pretty straightforward pictures of columbines.
So many more flower pictures out there to curate!
Neowise
I did get out and took a few pictures of Neowise last week. Didn’t get anything special because I waited too late and then I didn’t have time to get all the way out to a spot with very little light pollution. I went out to the Harrier Marsh and that is a place that isn’t too bad for the light pollution.
Here are a few images that I got:
I ordered a new fisheye lens for the A72. It should arrive this week. Might have to take it out this weekend and take some more astrophotography pictures. Might have to hit up a spot near Dana, Iowa that Jay keeps pushing. Or I might sit on my couch and watch television. It really is a push.
WPC – WEEK 254 – ANIMAL
I might have to change the release time for this weekly blog to 1:01 PM CST because there was a recent mine shaft collapse at the Computer Mine and I’ve had to change my work schedule to compensate, thus changing my lunch hour. But we’ll see how it goes for now.

It Just Blooms

Today’s collection is a bunch of pictures I took tooling around my back yard back in May.

Russell hates my flower pictures. Maybe if he engaged in some Zen Shin Meditation, he would be so angry and learn to love the simple beauty of flowers.
2010-02-15, 2010-02-17, & 2010-02-22
There aren’t many images in the folders 2010-02-15, 2010-02-17, and 2010-02-22 so I combined them all into one post. Most of the pictures are of flowers. But there is a WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE photo in there and a self-portrait.
