RWPE #45 – Diagonal Rule

This week there is a submission from somebody I have never met. I think that is an exciting development. Here are the submissions for DIAGONAL RULE:

WEEK 45 - DIAGONAL RULE - MIKE VEST
Mike Vest of Waxen Media

WEEK 45 - DIAGONAL RULE - SHANNON BARDOLE

I stuck a quarter in the Random Theme Generator and pulled the handle. Before it gave me a theme for this week, it reminded me that there are only 7 themes left. As I was ruminating on this, the Random Theme Generator spit out the theme for this week:

Spiritual

Vest and I have decided to continue on with this project for another year. I put a call out for people to submit ideas for themes for next year. Nothing was submitted. Here is you last chance.

Vest and I are meeting soon (like today) to finalize the list of themes for next year. If you have a theme you want to see on next year’s list, you can leave it in the comments section of this journal entry and it will be considered for inclusion. But you are almost out of time.

RWPE #44 – Hands

There were a fair amount of submissions for last week’s theme HANDS. Here are the submissions:

WEEK 44 - HANDS - CHRISTOPHER D. BENNETT
Christopher D. Bennett

WEEK 44 - HANDS - ANGIE DEWAARD
Angie DeWaard

WEEK 44 - HANDS - JULIE JOHNSON
Julie Johnson

WEEK 44 - HANDS - MIKE VEST
Mike Vest

WEEK 44 - HANDS - SHANNON BARDOLE
Shannon Bardole

The Random Generator has been fired up and it has spit out an interesting theme for this week.

Diagonal Rule

This is a somewhat technical theme, so let me quote from Picture-Thoughts:

The Diagonal Rule states that a photograph looks more dynamic if the objects fall or follow a diagonal line. The diagonal line doesn’t have to be an actual line and it doesn’t have to be a straight one. It could be the edges of a river, the top of a forest, or even an imaginary line connecting the different objects in the scene.

There is more of a technical definition that involves math, but for our purposes, I think just have the subject follow a diagonal line is more than enough to think about.

It is a good theme, so I hope that there are plenty of submissions for next week.

RWPE #42 – Shadows

Dawn’s Poetry Submission

Shadows

Something lurks beneath the bright
It shies away from the light
Peripheral image that can’t be seen
What can that phantom visual mean?

Sense the dark as it closes in
Suffocates like a hidden sin
Run to a meadow open and free
Take a moment to breathe and see

The sun was shining just last week
Now the sky seems cold and bleak
Oh won’t the sun come out and play
Chase the shadows and gloom awa

I’ve walked the rocky trail that leads to the cottage that houses the Random Theme Generator. I gave it a cookie and it spit out the theme for this week:

SMOKE PHOTOGRAPHY

A compelling and interesting theme. I look forward to seeing the submissions and seeing what creative ways people waft with this theme.

RWPE #40 – Odd Camera Angle

Last week’s theme ODD CAMERA ANGLE worked up the creative juices of more people than I was expecting. That makes me even more pumped for next week!

WEEL 40 - SHANNON BARDOLE - ODD CAMERA ANGLE
Shannon Bardole

WEEK 40 - ODD CAMERA ANGLE - MIKE VEST
Mike Vest

WEEK 40 - JULIE JOHNSON - ODD CAMERA ANGLE

Dawn’s poetry submission:

Odd Angle

You may say that I’m a cynic
that I should visit a clinic
or maybe that I judge too much
but sadly life has made it such

Maybe I’m a little jaded
Personality has faded
But it’s what’s hidden deep inside
that I can’t continue to hide

Perhaps I’m more aware these days
overly cautious with my ways
To watch a world falling apart
It’s time now for a brand new start

Only 12 weeks left in this humble experiment. Only 12 Themes left. It is probably time to consider whether or not this little project will return for another 52 weeks. Leave your feedback on this quandary in the comments section of this entry.

If you are pro RWPE Year 2, feel free to also leave suggestions for possible Themes for next year.

I’ve been out to the woods where the log cabin that protects the Random Theme Generator is protected from the elements. I adjusted its solar panels. It caught a glimpse of the sunlight, powered on and spit out the following theme for this week:

DRY

An interesting theme. I hope this is a theme that continues to fire the imaginations of those that entered in the past and those that wish to enter for the first time in the future.

RWPE #36 – Light Placement

There were many more contributors this week. Looks like RWPE is back on track. Here are this week’s submissions for LIGHT PLACEMENT:

We’ve been down to the basement that holds the Random Generator. After a few jerks on its ripcord it sputtered and then fired up and then settled down to a nice hum. After thinking for a small bit of time, it spit out the following theme for this week:

HOPE

That is a good broad theme and one that all Cyclone fans will need this week. Oh no! I’ve given up too much information on my idea. I would think that anybody with a camera or camera phone would be able to contribute something to a theme this broad and open to interpretation. Anybody that doesn’t contribute… I’m just going to have to assume that their life is devoid of hope.

RWPE #34 – Food

I had a submission for last week’s theme from Becky Perkovich, but during some computer swapping it has been temporarily lost, but I’ll post it as soon as I am able to locate it. Here are the other submissions for FOOD:

Dawn’s Poem of the Week

Food For Thought

Rich and creamy French silk pie
Makes me glisten with devilish eye
Perhaps an apple for my health
Wise choice yes, but not for wealth
Maybe celery to trim me down
Without peanut butter makes me frown
Popcorn then my snack shall be
But alas, none on the shelf I see
Crackers then will be my way
Hope they last me through the day…

The Random Generator has spoken and the theme for this week is:

Viewpoint

So get off of your feet or get up high. Look at something from a different perspective than you normally see things. I’ll be excited to see the submissions.

RWPE #31 – Paths

The submissions for last week’s theme PATHS:

Dawn Krause

IMAGE LOST
Becky Perkovich

WEEK 31 - PATHS - CHRISTOPHER D. BENNETT
Christopher D. Bennett

WEEK 31 - PATHS - MIKE VEST
Mike Vest

Dawn has taken quill in hand again and this is the result:

Paths

Two paths we could go love
Two roads we could follow
One leads us to warmth love
Where hearts don’t feel hallow

Lead me gently my love
Down the road we travel
Strengthen ties that bind love
Never to unravel

We could part the road love
For one taken before
Nursing broken hearts love
Forever close that door

That’s not what I want love
That distance from your heart
Hold me in your arms love
Even when we’re apart

The Random Generator has been fired up and spit out a high quality theme for this week:

Silhouettes

I don’t think this theme needs a definition, so I’ll just leave you to it!

RWPE #30 – Reflections

There were numerous submissions for last week’s theme REFLECTIONS. I know that more than a few of these weren’t actually taken last week, but I will let it slide this time…

So without further adieu, REFLECTIONS:

IMAGE LOST
Julie Johnson of The Joy is in the Journey
I consider Friday to be a good day to check this website for Photo Fridays!

WEEK 30 - REFLECTIONS - MIKE VEST
Mike Vest of Waxen Media
Mondays are a great day to check this website as Mike posts pictures from his “peeps” for this project then.

The Random Generator has been generating and generating and generating and it spit out this week’s theme:

PATHS

This might be another one of my favorite themes on the list. After all, everybody walks their own path, so I’m assuming there should be some great submissions again next week.

RWPE #27 – Communication

The submissions for last week’s theme COMMUNICATION are in:

IMAGE LOST
Justin Whitaker of American Buddhist Perspective

IMAGE LOST
Julie Johnson of The Joy is in the Journey

WEEK 27 - COMMUNICATION - MIKE VEST
Mike Vest of Waxen Media

WEEK 27 - COMMUNICATION - CHRISTOPHER D. BENNETT
Christopher D. Bennett

The Random Generator has been fired up and it has spit out this week’s theme:

CALM

I would think that would be an easy subject for anybody going to Yellowstone or engaged in a meditation project.
